    One big difference for the weight is mostly going to be noticed if you ride American highways say 60% or more of the time. You'll want that extra weight while riding at 70mph w/ all the traffic. ChronicleofSolid Channel did a pretty good split on these 2 bikes and why he chose the "L" ..... lol, lighter, more agile, and on the single tracks after picking her up all day you'll want the lighter bike. But I know nothing, looking at the Rally as a 1st bike... peace

    Very comprehensive study & @ 16;20 you called the roads there by some name - in Texas we call em' a dirt road, yeah. Three gallons of gas @ 65 miles p/ gallon is good, most comparable bike only have 2 gallon tanks and you said the Display indicates the gears you are in & the gas levels? If that's correct a lot of the Dual Sports don't have these things. The front suspension might be something to consider but only after riding her. I'm 170lbs @ 5' 6" so the windscreen will give me FULL Coverage, lol? Are all those plastics costly or do they get broken easy? I ask b/c some people buy a backup set of plastics that they put stickers/graphics on and put the stock plastics away. Wrapped up & stored, using the 2nd set for riding & if those get broke, so what but when/if you sell her you've got all the original plastics to put back on her? This is a well thought out review.... most take her out & review the 1st ride which means they don't know much about it..... they know it's different than the last one they rode but that's about it? Thanks for the info as I try to navigate the dual sport world of bikes... peace

      I probably said guiso which is a kind of dried limestone rock smashed and dusted up a bit. At least that’s what it looks like. Dirt roads about right though. Yep, the bike has gear position and fuel indicators as well as a bunch of other stuff such as trip meters etc, no range though. I’m not sure about the cost of the plastics off the top of my head although I know some riders do what you say and buy spares. I think they’re easy to get hold of so I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it as I spent all my money on bikes 😂 Haha the screen will be perfect, I find it fine at 6ft. I’m guilty of doing those first rides too sometimes but these days I want to give out a little more in depth and useful info if I can. I’m in the UK at the moment, travelling back to the Philippines tomorrow so will be back with the bikes and hopefully uploading more videos in a week or so. Nice review, thank you. I got my 2023 CRF 150 L in December. At first it was a little too much for me to handle, in fact it scared the heck out of me to drive it. I am almost 70 years old, retired, living in Bataan from the U.S. and just now getting into motorcycles. I have about 4,000 K on it now and have come to really enjoy driving it. I changed the drive sprocket from 15 to 14 teeth for more low speed control. The engine has a rattling noise but the dealer tells me this is normal? Bottom line: Every time I drive my CRF 150 L I come home with a big smile on my face.

      If you come home with a smile on your face then you’ve got the right bike. I’ll ask a friend as it’s quite a while since I had mine and can’t remember but my crf300l had this when it was stock. It even has a name, the 5k rattle so it’s pretty common.

      @@TripleB6036 Yes, thank you. The noise, I will just live with it. I am thinking of running premium gas it it, maybe that will help. I am thinking of driving the "Luzon loop" a 1,400 K ride. I have a PCX, far more comfortable, but the CRF is much safer on bad roads. So I am in training to toughen my self so that I can take the painful seat for longer riding times. I am now driving the CRF about 80 miles every day. (When I have time). Thanks.

      @@dalecs47I run premium in mine. It made no difference. I think the cause of the noise must be the way the engine is mapped or constricted to meet emissions regulations as when I put a new ECU and exhaust/air filter in mine it went away. Dude, this channel is exactly what I'm looking for right now. I'm in the process of getting my license and my first bike. I want something to travel New Zealand's highways and (more importantly) our gravel roads. I don't want to go fast, I want to get to remote places on roads used by 4WDs also. The bottle neck for me as a learner is CC rating, can't go over 650cc for the first 2 years. So I'm looking at bikes like the 300L, 300 Rally, RE Himalayan 450, KTM 390 Adventure, etc. I'm leaning toward the Rally at this point, parts are cheap and easy to find, there are a lot of upgrades available, whereas something like the new Himalayan kind of seems like a hassle for aftermarket stuff and even parts. My concern is highway speeds getting to the off road sections I want to travel. How do those 300s handle highway speeds? Can they keep up with highway traffic on hills comfortably?

The Rally comfortably cruises at 90-110KPH which is about as fast as I’ll go on the roads over here due to conditions. It will go a little faster but doesn’t get there as quickly. I’ll be doing more videos on both the L and Rally as soon as I’m back in the Philippines later this month.

I was veering towards the rally because of the extra fuel capacity but as a new rider, I'm going to be dropping the bike, a lot! I could just strap a jerry can on with extra fuel and stick a wind deflector on. I also have a big van, so if i did want to travel around, I'd probably stick the bike in the van. Yep, Dumaguete is a no rules zone, especially for recognizable foreigners. 1) vague and faded roadwork signs are one of the biggest hazards at night, especially with oncoming headlights. 2) bikes with no lights and pedestrians who just cross the roads at night are also very hard to see in time. Look on the sides of the road as well as ahead. 3) beware when passing a column of slow traffic when there's a large 1500 pickup truck or bus in the front, because it often means "kuya" is about to turn left across 2 lanes of traffic and he's hidden in front of the truck. 4) last and probably worst is the stray dogs that are all over the otherwise pristine provincial roads in Siquijor. They have zero regard for traffic and are hard to predict where and when they are going to cross in front of you. My worst case was a dog just parked, relaxing slap dash in the middle of the road and a Mack truck was oncoming. I managed to squeeze in between the Mack truck and the dog , but not adviseable. The mountain pass roads are absolutely spectacular though, a bikers dream.

    The areas I ride wildlife are the biggest danger, whitetail deer, turkey, foxes, groundhogs, coyotes, etc.. Especially deer 🦌 if you see one cross the road you can almost bet three or four more will jump in the road before you get there. My personal bikes are Harley-Davidson, 1978 flh Bobber, 1991 springer softtail, and a 1992 electra glide ultra classic. I'm planning on retiring in the Philippines, at 63 ,that's a year and half from now and I will bring the old shovelhead with me, its easy to work on with hand tools with no special tools, and as long as I keep up the maintenance it's been very reliable. It's also a stripped down to a bare minimum bobber, small fenders, smaller seats, no hard bags, no fairing, or windshield. Kick start only, and magneto ignition (doesn't need a battery to start on run) simple cv carburetor (Chinese) easy to replace and rebuild. 80 cubic inch 1981 motor all stock internals. Four-speed ratchet top transmission. You can literally bring almost every tool you need to keep it running in a small handlebar bag. Along with spare plugs, condenser, and points. Sorry, I didn't mean to write a complete article about it. Most of your tips are common sense and and everyone should be aware of these things, especially if riding a motorcycle anywhere in the world, but I have seen a lack of common sense in the last several years, and I hope your video makes more people aware of the possible dangers of riding. I recommend Unifilter, wider pegs, Rentals, Barkbusters, Ktech suspension, FMX pipe. Went around Morocco just fine. I Trail ride it in Wales and the UK with the TRF. Heading back to Morocco in October.

      I bet Morocco was fantastic. I’ve done all those upgrades (various brands depending on availability in the Philippines) to my CRF 300L as a test compared to my stock bike. I may swap some of the parts over to the Rally at some point. Did you do KTECH front and rear suspension?

      Yes F&R, the bike had been across the States before I got it. I had the the shock refreshed last year. It a good set up, still plush and allows the bike to cover the ground much better. I suspect the Rally raid might be a little better? as it has adjustable forks. But mine has never caused me any issues, it works on fast pistes and technical sections really well

    Great review. I bought the exact same one a year ago - yellow 1050 XT - and I love it! This is my first bike so a little bit overwhelming at low speed (the weight of the bike can be felt around town and when parking) and also in sinuous mountain road, where I am not able to stay on par with my friends (not ready for the Tail of the Dragon yet!🐉🐲), but that is probably due to me being a beginner more than the bike itself… Overall I enjoy it, the power is there and the torque is just great! Probably need to buy myself a second lighter bike for the Sunday afternoon mountain rides… 😊 2 bikes seems to make sense !

    Mate Paul from Australia, I have owned my Rally for around 12 months now and “ rode the wheels off the things “😂😂😂, pretty much ALL off road , to many mods to mention. I’m 56 , and it’s my smallest ADV/ Dual sport since I was riding motorcross “ many years ago “ 1. The tyres I agree ☝️ with you the stock IRC,s I reckon are pretty good 👍,in fact I have brought off other riders , I’m not taking myself up but a lot of riders cannot keep up with my in the trails , so tyres are not the problem, let’s just say maybe 🤔 the rider . An extremely good off road rider ( I’m not putting myself in that ) will ride a dirt bike fast in the bush with any tyre. I call it the tyre excuse. But do agree some tyres offer more grip than others etc BUT an extremely good rider this will not stop 🛑 him or her . 2. If you do an ECU , pipe and air filter mod will gain around 4-5 HP ( putting it in the low to mid 30,s ) 3. Suspesion is CRAP 💩- I put YSS rear and front - why better for jumping . But a fantastic light weight ADV / dual sport bike 👍.

    • @TripleB6036
      @TripleB6036 24 дня назад

      Thanks for the comment Paul. I agree it’s a cracking bike . I’ve done a full system, ECU remap and air box mod on my crf300l as I ride that a bit harder. I’ll likely do a video on it once I’m back home with the bikes next month. Tyres, well I don’t think I push the bike hard enough to really benefit from new ones. The stocks have done fine for how I ride. Sure, some others will work better but I’m getting my moneys worth out of the stock tyres before I buy new ones. Suspension is where I spent my money on the Rally. I put the Rally Raid level 1 shock on it and that transformed the bike and is the first mod I’d recommend to anyone of my size or heavier. Ride safe.

    I hit a dog two different times in the Philippines. Best thing i did was ignore the panic urge to swerve and tracked straight ahead. I think that helped me big time.

      @TripleB6036 29 дней назад

      Ive fortunately never hit one although did hit a cat. You did the right thing, don’t panic and if there is no avoiding it then don’t hit that front brake when you strike the dog. Harsh as it may sound, a little acceleration will help keep the bike balanced.

    I had a 1050 2022 for 6 months, great bike tech etc...but really didn't like the eletronic accelerator and the cruise control same side as the accelerator as well, wich was very jarky and too sensitive, in a high speed when you try to press the cruise control button it really feels unsafe, and the rate weight/power doesn't make sense...bike same category will have the same weight and about 40hp more...so I made a great deal trading my 1050 2022 for a 650 2023 xt, what a bless, agile, light and the power is more than enough...accelarator smooth and spot on, the weigh power ratio just perfect, even my wife felt the 650more comfortable...
